In 1970 I returned home from a tour of active duty in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam conflict. About all I came back with was an Honorable Discharge. I spent the next four years finishing college and working full time. I also started my family, and all that kept me very busy.
From the time I began college through 1980 I worked as a carpet technician, job estimator, and canvasser. I learned all about the business of carpets, upholstery, and water damage cleaning and restoration. I also did a great deal of telemarketing and outside insurance calls and continued to hone my talents in this industry.
In 1980 I started as an outside salesperson and within seven years I worked myself to the top. I had as many as 60 employees working directly under me, and I ran a sales staff of 20 people for a large corporation. After spending 8 years in the corporate world I decided to start my own consulting business.
More important than my college education was the Common Sense Degree I received from "The University of the Street". I am one of the few truly hands-on, eye to eye, hand to hand, belly to belly guys in marketing today. In the last 20 years I have worked with literally hundreds of restoration companies, and I have trained hundreds of sales and marketing people. I have personally called on literally thousands of restoration-related target markets nationwide, including insurance agents and adjusters, public and private property managers, plumbers, self insureds, and health related industries.
I am well versed in the issues of mold, not only technically, but legally as well. I have been a project manager on many water, fire, smoke, and mold claims over the last 20+ years. I am also a provider of continued education for agents and adjusters in many states for the insurance restoration industry.
My Daddy used to tell me "Those that do ... do, and those that don't ... teach!" I DO BOTH! The cleaning, restoration, and environmental business has grown by billions of dollars annually in the last 10 years. We have helped many of our clients make millions of dollars in added income.
